About Us
We are a small select show kennel consisting of Four Spinoni at present, two bitches Boo and Annabelle and two dogs, Mr Coby and our brand new addition Henry. Both the girls are currently being shown in Germany, Holland and in the UK when time allows.
We fell in love with this wonderful breed after the premature death of our last boxer bitch Mia at the age of 15 months. Prior to this devastating event both my husband and I had since childhood been involved with boxers in some degree or another.
When we lost our beloved Mia we decided we could not live without a dog in our lives and decided we had had our heart broken too many times with the boxer breed that we would go for a complete change and started looking at and researching other breeds that we were interested in.
We did not get very far when we came across the Spinone (Italiano), we were won over by their kind eyes and funny old man appearance, love at first sight!!
We then made contact with Jenneke and Trudie of Dal Podere Antico to enquire about a puppy. Luckily for us they were expecting a litter at that time, and after vetting us we were accepted onto their puppy list. It was then a great privilege for us to become the proud owners of Giachetta Dal Podere Antico (B00 B00), and our greatest thanks must go to Jenneke and Trudie of Dal Podere Antico for allowing us to have one of their beautiful puppies, for it was Boo who made us fall in love with this wonderful breed. A breed that I could not imagine myself ever living without now.
Training Spinone is a delight as they are extremely intelligent and are extremely quick to learn, even things you wish they hadn't!! Patience is required as they are a very sensitive breed that require careful handling if you are not to break their gentle spirit, however they can sometimes present a stubborn side to their nature, with a tendency as many HPR breeds do to selective deafness when on the scent of quarry, so training is essential.
I am excited about the prospect of working in the field with the dogs at some point in the future, when the situation allows, hopefully not in the too distant future!! Please check out the rest of my site and most of all enjoy!
